Biography
Vitaa, whose real name is Charlotte Goncalves, is a French singer born in Lyon on 14 June 1983. Born to a Cape Verdean mother and a French father, she grew up in a working-class district of Lyon and developed a passion for music from an early age.
As a teenager, Vitaa took part in a number of singing competitions, winning acclaim for her powerful, soulful voice. In 2003, she took part in the first season of ‘Talent Show’ on M6, finishing as a finalist. Her participation brought her to the attention of the general public and enabled her to sign her first recording contract.
In 2004, Vitaa released her first album, ‘À bien des égards’, which was a huge success. Buoyed by the singles ‘Tu me collaques’ and ‘Absolument n'importe quoi’, the album went on to sell over 300,000 copies, catapulting Vitaa to the top of the French music scene.
Since her debut, Vitaa has enjoyed a string of successes, alternating between solo albums and collaborations with well-known artists such as Slimane, Diam's, Amel Bent and Maître Gims. She has also taken part in several television shows, including ‘Danse avec les stars’ in 2013 and ‘The Voice Kids’ as a coach since 2014.
In addition to her musical career, Vitaa is also a committed artist. She has taken up causes such as the fight against AIDS and violence against women.

In 2023, Vitaa marked her solo comeback with the album ‘Charlotte’, an intimate and personal opus tinged with pop, soul and R&B, with titles such as ‘J'ai oublié de vivre’ and ‘Cœur de lion’. The album, billed as the last of her career, was a huge success and was followed by a triumphant tour.
