Matt Pokora
Biography
M. Pokora, whose real name is Matthieu Tota, is a French singer, dancer and actor born on 26 September 1985 in Strasbourg. He made his name in 2003 when he won the third season of the music reality show ‘Popstars’ with the group Linkup.
After the group disbanded, he embarked on a solo career in 2004, adopting the stage name M. Pokora.
His self-titled debut album, released in 2004, met with moderate success, but it was with ‘Player’ in 2006 that he really broke through, thanks to the singles ‘Elle me contrôle’ and ‘Pas sans toi’. His career took an international turn with the album ‘MP3’ in 2008, which included collaborations with artists such as Timbaland.
M. Pokora has also made a name for himself as a dancer, winning the first season of ‘Danse avec les stars’ in 2011.
He has enjoyed a string of successes with albums such as ‘À la poursuite du bonheur’ (2012) and ‘R.E.D.’ (2015). In 2016, he paid tribute to Claude François with the album ‘My Way’.
In 2020, he continued his success with the album ‘Pyramide’. Married to singer Christina Milian, he has two children.
Away from music, he has invested in an unusual project: becoming a majority shareholder in the Strasbourg basketball club, SIG. He has also become the honorary patron of Télévie, a Belgian cancer charity.
