Aya Nakamura, whose real name is Aya Danioko, is a Malian singer-songwriter born on 10 May 1995 in Bamako.
After a successful debut on social networks and a number of collaborations, she made a breakthrough with the release of her debut album Journal intime in 2017, which was certified platinum after just over two years.
In 2018, she released her second album Nakamura, where she became a household name, propelled by the single Djadja. This new album was certified a diamond disc, with sales reaching over 550,000 units in France and over 1.2 million copies sold worldwide. Her songs are charting in French-speaking countries and abroad.
In 2020, she was the most listened-to French-speaking female artist on Spotify, with 20 million monthly listeners. The same year she released her third album, Aya. The album went platinum, selling 100,000 copies in less than three months.
