Ärsenik

Biography

Ärsenik, also known as Art Sonic, is a French rap duo from Villiers-le-Bel, in the Val-d'Oise. Formed in 1992 by brothers Lino (Gaëlino M'Bani) and Calbo (Calboni M'Bani), of Congolese origin, Ärsenik quickly established themselves as one of the leading groups in French rap during the 1990s.

Their musical style is characterized by powerful and committed lyrics, addressing themes such as life in the suburbs, discrimination, racism, and social injustices. Their incisive flow and dark, powerful instrumentals give them a unique identity in the French rap landscape.

In 1998, Ärsenik experienced meteoric success with the release of their debut album, "Quelques gouttes suffisent." This album, certified double gold, contains tracks that have become classics of French rap, such as "1ère balle," "L'Arme à feu," and "Routine.

The duo then followed up with other successful albums, such as "Chroniques d'un truand" (2000), "Retour aux sources" (2002), and "Xenophobe Music" (2005). They also collaborated with numerous French artists, such as Booba, Kery James, and Sefyu.

Ärsenik also stands out for their political and social engagement. They participate in protests against racism and injustices and do not hesitate to denounce societal issues in their lyrics.

In 2018, the two brothers reunited for a series of exceptional concerts, rekindling the flame of their legendary duo. They also announced that they were working on a new album, eagerly awaited by their fans.
