Bamby

Biography

Born Ambre Zamor in French Guiana, Bamby began singing and dancing at the age of 3, lulled by the Whitney Houston albums her mother played over and over again.

It was her childhood friend Jahyanai, himself a songwriter, who pushed her in 2015 to make her first video, which quickly became an internet hit.

Bamby's musical style is a blend of dancehall, pop and Caribbean music. His lyrics, which are often politically committed, tackle themes such as love, everyday life, Guyanese society and pride in his origins.

In 2017, she won the Female Revelation Award at the Hit Lokal Awards and has gone on to collaborate with Guyanese and international artists such as Admiral T, Kery James, Kalash and MHD.

In 2020, she was crowned ‘Best Female Artist of the Year’ at Guyana's Victoires de la Musique awards.

Bamby is now considered one of Guyana's most popular and influential artists. She continues to champion her music and culture on the international stage, while serving as a source of inspiration for the younger generation of Guyanese artists.

Her first solo album, ‘Bambyland’, was released in 2018 and met with great success in French Guiana and the Caribbean. She went on to perform on a number of international stages, including in France, Belgium and Canada.
