Biography
Damso, whose real name is William Wambawaka, is a Belgian rapper born on 27 October 1991 in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He grew up in Brussels, Belgium, from the age of 4.
Damso began rapping as a teenager and made a name for himself on the Belgian underground scene in the early 2010s. He collaborated with several Belgian artists, such as Bozar and Negatiff, and released his first solo album, ‘Batterie faible’, in 2016. The album was a huge success in Belgium and propelled Damso to the forefront of the French-speaking scene.
In 2017, Damso signed to QL, the label of rapper Booba, and released his second album, ‘QALF’, which became a huge commercial success in both Belgium and France. The album was certified a diamond disc in France and broke numerous streaming records.
Damso is known for his unique musical style, which blends rap, trap and Afro influences. His lyrics are often introspective and poetic, touching on themes such as love, death, street life and fame.
