Kévin Valleray, better known by his stage name Kalash, was born on June 12, 1988, in Strasbourg, France. Of Martiniquan descent, he grew up between the mainland and his native island, immersed in the rhythms and culture of the Caribbean. From a young age, he developed a passion for music, influenced by artists like Bounty Killer, Admiral T, and traditional Martiniquan sounds.
Kalash's musical career began in the early 2000s in the Martiniquan underground scene. He quickly gained recognition for his incisive flow, socially conscious lyrics, and skill in fusing musical genres. His unique style, blending trap, dancehall, and reggae, allowed him to reach a wide audience and stand out on the Caribbean music scene.
In 2010, Kalash released his first solo album, "Kalash," which was met with great success in Martinique and the Antilles. His growing fame led him to move to mainland France, where he collaborated with renowned artists like Booba, Sefah, and Tunisiano.
