Biography
Sofien Hakim Manessour, better known as Soso Maness, is a French rapper of Algerian origin born on 21 March 1987 in Marseille.
Born in the Font-Vert district of Bouches-du-Rhône, he developed a passion for rap at an early age. Influenced by the Marseilles scene of the 90s and artists such as IAM, he began rapping in his teens.
In 2013, he made a name for himself with the Ténébreux collective, with whom he released two albums. After the group split up in 2015, Soso Maness went solo.
In 2017, he made a name for himself as a member of the group 4Keus, with whom he enjoyed considerable success. The group split up in 2020 and Tiakola embarked on a solo career.
His debut album, ‘Rescapé’, was released in 2019 to great acclaim. His musical style is a blend of Marseilles rap, Mediterranean influences and touches of Afrobeat.
Soso Maness is renowned for his poetic and committed lyrics, which depict life in the neighbourhoods of Marseille, the reality of youth and the hope of a better future. He is also appreciated for his unique flow and catchy melodies.
